Winton Band visit Sheffield
Visit of Winton Band to Sheffield Citadel - 10th & 11th March 2012
report by Gerald Brooks
Following the Citadel band’s visit to Winton in October 2011 Winton Band made a return visit to Sheffield Citadel.
A full hall enjoyed a concert of music to suit all tastes and the weekend was a great success. Because of the expense of transport today these weekends are becoming uncommon, a fact that hinders the making of new friendships which have been the hallmark of our successful church. Two new uniformed soldiers who billeted visitors for the first time were amazed to be still up at 3.00am talking to their young guests. They were however the first to arrive for the morning pray meeting.

We will remember them
Sheffield Citadel Band were privileged to lead the Remembrance Parade in Sheffield city centre. It was a damp & dark day but many thousands of people gathered at the city’s Cenotaph to pay their respects to those of our Servicemen and woman who had paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country, as well as to those veterans who survived and those who are still serving.
SCB led the parade of servicemen and veterans, who received much applause from the crowds who had gathered. As the canon marked the beginning of 2 minutes silence, the city fell silent, before the cornets sounded the last post.
